Eat, I’ll cut some more

by Krzysztof Turowski

Easter Monday,  called the Wet Monday in Poland is also known as a “śmigus-dyngus”. It refers to an ancient, pagan practices when boys throw water over girls and spank them with pussy willow branchesTradition refers to the nature that awakens to life and the cycle of rebirth, and was known long before Christianity

According to the Slavs, throwing water helps with fertility. That’s why all young people were involved in water fights.  Today it looks a little different, and almost everyone is throw water to others. In many villages, it is also the day when firefighters use their FirehoseApparently, the house, whose roof was covered with water from a fire hose, has protection against fires. Many families are waiting for this day. It is often a chance for children to see a big red fire truck up close. Who knows, maybe even put on a firefighter’s helmet.

Easter, apart from many beautiful traditions, is primarily a time of meetings with families, friends, and  loved ones. Many Christians also follow the Lent and stop drinking alcohol, sweets, gourmet dishes or even meat during this time. The The Lenten fast lasts 40 days. In those days, our body will get used to fast dishes.

We all know that for Easter we prepare festive food, special course and often heavy dishes.  In addition, our wives, mothers and grandmothers repeat like the mantra one slogan “eat, I’ll chop more”. Christmas food just after the Lent, combined with the size of the portion will most likely result in indigestion.

Today, in every pharmacy you can easily find a lot of measures to alleviate the effects of holiday’s ‘I ate to much” . We can also use proven, home methods. Below, you will find some tips to help with your indigestion.

All herbal teas such as linden, mint or chamomile tea will help a lot. They have a relaxing and soothing effect.

Another way may be a ginger tea with honey. Slice ginger , then pour with boiling water. After about 10 minutes, pour the ginger tea through a sieve, and add a spoonful of honey. Ginger will eliminate stomach pain and improve digestion.

When preparing heavily digested dishes, we often add cumin to them. Cumin helps with digestion. Of course, we can also enjoy the benefits of cumin after a meals. Just a few grains eaten after the dish will help. Of course, you can also prepare a tea from cumin, like from the ginger. It is even better to add to our cumin team a teaspoon of marjoram.

Wine vinegar also does wonders for our stomach. Pour a tablespoon of wine vinegar into the glass, fill with warm water, add a tablespoon of honey and mix thoroughly. Drink slowly.

We know, that venison loves wine for a very long time. I wrote it in one of the previous notes about the game marinade. A glass of red wine with a meal will also help in the digestion process. Of course, red wine will work when we drink only one glass. While drinking  more, we can get some extra headache for the next day.

Finally, the most valuable advice. Eat slowly and do not rush, unless it’s the last piece of a deer pate and someone is just putting out the light.
